The collaboration grew from Marc’s long running DiStilled Life series, where he often used birds as metaphors for the human condition. The new collaborative work continues these themes and weaves in Kari’s examination of how board games mirror the individual’s movement through society. Replete with homes, setbacks, pawns, winners and losers; it’s through play we learn about strategy, alliance building, sacrifice, and the different ways to wield power. Together we humorously juxtapose childhood ideals of fairness against the lived reality of life’s complexity.
